Thanks for the adivce on the retractor... I didn' thave much experience using it instead of the locking clip.

She is in the top slot. Her shoulders were just a tiny bit over the next to the top slot, so we had to use the top slot. This seat is designed to be used up to 53 inches and 80 pounds. The tech that I spoke with at Radian stated that the seat states 53 inches AS A GUIDE. He said some kids are all legs, which my daughter is. She has long legs and I would say a normal torso. He said that when using the top slot (and so does their manual) that the childs shoulders can be above the harness slots and the seat can be used until the tops of the ears reach the top of the back of the seat. Right now she's nowhere near that.

My understanding from my discussion with the Radian tech is, if you have a child that's 52' and their ears are past the top of the seat, then it shouldn't be used, but if you have a child that is 54' and as long as their ears are below the top of the seat, it can still be used of course as long as the kid is under 80 pounds.
