I have seen lots of vehicles with 3 across, so I would think the best option for you would be for you to seek out a vehicle that seems to fit your needs, then try out the seats you currently have in the back. Yes, sometimes it takes some configuring, but as long as the seats are in there tight, independently and not relying on the seat next to them to be in there snug, then you are good! Now, if there are plans for any future children, I would definitely take a look into something with 3 rows or something that has that optional 3rd row.
