Did you call SEATCHECK?

Try the link @ the bottom of my signature -- it's usually more current & comprehensive (because although NHTSA creates the curriculum + regulations, SafeKids is actually in charge of certification training)

Also, I suggest asking the technician when they last attended a curriculum update training workshop & ask to see their ID card to make sure they are current: if you doubt their experience, you can always ask to speak with their instructor (perhaps over the phone at a separate time) or you can Google "CPSboard" to find the state coordinator if you feel you have been given unsafe/incorrect advice....
