According to the database, when installed rear-facing the Marathon is a pretty poor fit in an Audi A4 - seats in front of it need to be moved up quite a bit to fit. This is not that shocking to me considering most of the Britax car seats (with the exception of the smaller Roundabout or Diplomat) are very tall seats and when reclined for rear-facing are quite lengthy/deep.

You may want to consider the new convertible car seat from 'the First Years' (formerly Compass) called the True Fit. It's got a much lower profile than Britax seats but is still a quality seat with generous padding for younger child comfort. It features a headrest that pops off easily for better rear-facing fit if needed and then with the headrest back on and installed forward-facing the harness can be used up to 65 lbs like the Britax Marathon. It's worth looking into, I think.

I hope that helps!
