I can relate! My daughter outgrew all the harness seats available to me in my local area at about the same age -- after finding a forum like this & discussing the issue with various technicians, I decided to drive an hour to buy the $35-50 Cosco Scenera which allowed me to turn kiddo RF + I saved toward the only high weight harness seats available at the time: Britax....

I urge you to do the same. Kids under 24 months old are at 4 times the risk of internal decapitation FF compared to those who are still RF. Since the spine does not begin to show the necessary strength to withstand the larger head size (in comparison to body) until 3-6 years old, Scandinavian kids stay RF until 50# in appropriately designed seats & have a shockingly, drastically lower rate of injury/death to this age group. The American Academy of Pediatrics urges parents to keep all kids RF until the limits of the convertible seat: the Scenera has a nice tall shell with 35# RF limit & is quite reasonably priced as well.

Yes, it only has a 40# harness limit & does not become a booster afterward, but the price is within budget & would allow you to save toward a longer lasting higher harness limit seat
