Perhaps the Sunshine Kids Radian65 would be better suited to this vehicle? Not sure how well/easily it installs on the seat, but it has a nice low profile which should be much easier -- although it doesn't have "TSIP" all 5 point harnesses (especially RF) are *very* safe in the outboard position when they're used correctly....

Also, the dogs become dangerous projectiles in a crash (20 pounds becomes 600 pounds of force in a 30 MPH crash) so you should have a barrier designed by the vehicle manufacturer specific to the vehicle and/or restrain them to the tether/cargo hooks or unused seatbelt with an IMMI PetBuckle or RuffRiderRoadie (IMMI is the maker of carseat harnesses, etc.) Other harnesses or gates are not reliable.
