Default 37" 25lb 2yr and too tall for car seat - Now what do I do?

My son turns 2 in October and is tall and skinny (lucky him!) He is 37" tall (long torso) and only 25 lbs. We currently have an Evenflo Triumph which is his main seat and still fits (Ford Freestyle) and a Graco ComfortSport (Honda Accord) which is getting to be too small height wise. I need to replace the Graco (which we just bought in May UGH!!) because he is getting too tall for it.

He is forward facing.

Any suggestions as to what to do?

I'm afraid if I get another convertible carseat that he will outgrown it sooner than later. I would like to get a seat that will last us a few years or at least to the point he is ready for a booster. I just went to a carseat check and the policeman suggested one of those combo seats, but I don't feel like they have enough protection for him. And besides, is there a weight/age minimum for those combo seats (Graco Cargo/Evenflo Generations...etc).

Sorry for the stream of thoughts, but I've spent hourssss looking at websites and am still confused.

Budget: I don't mind spending alot of money on a seat if it will last years.

Any help would be appreciated

Thank you!
