Hi, we just bought the Britax Marathon and have an Element as well. I agree that having 2 kids in the back seat will be impossible (if one of them is in a rear facing convertible seat). I assume that front facing will be fine.

I decided to put the convertible seat in the rear of the passenger side so I can crawl back from my side (driver's side) to get them in and out.

Also, do your kids legs hit the back of the seat? Mine does, and I'm concerned that she is too scrunchy.
