A lot of progress has been made since 1994 -- there was very little communication between carseat & vehicle manufacturers then.... It really is almost impossible to install any carseat in vehicle seats like that (if that is in fact what yours looks like?)
A tech will likely not give you any more detailed information than that over the phone
