Volvo Built-in Booster

Our 1993 Volvo 940 station wagon has a built-in booster in the center rear seat, but I hesitate to use it because safety standards have evolved so much since 1993. Does anyone have any information on how the safety of the built-in seat is currently assessed?

	Booster Seat A booster seat raises your child up so that the car's lap and shoulder belts fit correctly. The lap belt should fall across the upper thighs. The shoulder belt should go across the middle of the shoulder and chest. A booster seat is used for older children up to about 80 pounds. As long as there have not been any recalls OR if there has been recalls and they have been resolved, I have NO issues against integrated seats. All a booster does is lift the child up so that the seatbelt lies across their lap/shoulder properly. Integrated seats were made to withstand the LIFE of a vehicle. As long as there is adequate head support, I see nothing wrong with it.

Something else to consider is that these integrated seats are usually not the most comfortable...and the child can't take it with them to use in another car. They are great to have when you have an extra child with you who doesn't have, but needs a booster.
