Default Harnessed seat for 40lbs+ for an older model (non-latch) vehicle?

DH drives a 1997 Toyota Tercel. My daughter has just reached the limit of her old 40lb seat and I am trying to figure out what to replace it with. She rides in his car only about 5% of the time. I want to keep her harnessed as long as possible; which higher harnessing model you would recommend for a non-latch, non-tethered installation?

I have a Regent in my vehicle, but I'm not sure how well it would install (with the bar instead of the tether) in DH's car? Advice?

Thanks!!
Tina

Can you get tethers? I would look into getting the tethers put in.

What about the Radian by Sunshine kids? It harness' to 65lbs. So do all the Britax convertables. There is also the Fisher Price Safe Voyage Deluxe (FPSVD) that is made by Britax (with FP's name on it) and is similar to the Marathon (MA). The FPSVD only harness to 55lbs, doesn't have the built in lock-offs and is missing a few other bells and whistles that the Britax seats have.

Thanks for the reply! DD is actually too big in my opinion for a Marathon. We had one for about a week and took it back because there just didn't seem to be any growing room for her - particularly with the crotch part of the harness. She's 41 inches tall and 40 lbs - but shes built like her daddy, all torso and short little legs. (He's 6'2" with a 32 inch inseam!!)

DH just started a new job this week and it turns out that he'll be getting a company car (a new Magnum or something along those lines), so I think we'll just go with another Regent. If I can keep her from riding in that Tercel, I will. I was behind them one day last week and just shuddered at how unsafe and vulnerable she looked in it! I'm quite relieved she won't be riding in it anymore.
