| I have a 2003 Passat, 4 door, NOT wagon and I am looking to move my 10 month from an infant seat to a convertible seat. I would like to get the Britax Regent or Marathon but wonder if it will fit. Anyone know? |

| The Regent is not a convertible seat & therefore not a safe option for a 10 month old.... It could also be illegal if your state has a Proper Use clause as it is Forward-Facing only for toddlers over 12 months of age -- most 2 year olds are swallowed in the Regent! If you can afford high end seats, I would consider the new Recaro Signo/Como (there's another recent thread about this seat) or the Sunshine Kids Radian as well as the Britax Marathon The Marathon is a great choice & should fit just fine, but all of Recaro's other seats are made of a stronger grade plastic so I'm guessing their new convertible is as well? If you have rear side curtain airbags or the vehicle manual shows that center carseat installation is allowed, then I wouldn't worry too much about plastic strength (they all meet the same safety standards: the most important thins is that it's used correctly 100% of the time!)These 3 seats I just mentioned are the only ones that allow top tethering while RF. The Radian is usually much more difficult to install correctly, but I'm not sure about your specific vehicle. Another seat I like is the Safety 1st Uptown because it has the highest RF weight limit & is less expensive. It cannot tether RF, but it does have the comfort & energy absorbing foam that the other seats offer + it's lighter weight for travel ![]() If you have the $ I would suggest 1 of the other 3 convertibles as a primary seat (because they keep kids harnessed longer) plus maybe the Uptown (or Scenera) as a spare for alternate vehicles -- this reduces the risk of improperly installing the primary seat.
