Default Radian 80

Hello,
My daughter is on the small side. She's 5 years old, next month, 36 inches tall and weighs only 30 pounds. I've had her in the same Britax Marathon since she was 5 months old. Although I love the Britax Marathon, my daughter is starting to be very conscious that she is still in a "baby seat" while her friends are in "big girl" seats. I'd like to transfer her out of the Marathon but I don't want to sacrifice safety and I want something that can she can grow with. I also need something that I can travel with since we do travel extensively. I'm not worried so much about price, safety is more important.

Anyway, my research led me to the Radian 80 which I'm considering purchasing but I need reassurance that it's a good quality, safe seat. Can anyone tell me about their experiences with the radian and whether crash test data exists for the seat?

I have a Honda Odyssey (07) and have read that others on this site had no issues installing the seat in that vehicle.

Thanks!

For the price I would definitely go for the Britax Regent -- it has higher top harness slots, more cover options, is more comfy all around & my version has a funny cartoon crying baby crossed off with the words "THIS IS NOT A BABY SEAT" Show her the GM booster video (it's in my website + Google) & the extended FF album (link in my signature).

Default Thanks but can't fly with the regent

Thanks for the info. I did consider the Regent, but since I travel extensively (about 30 flights per year), I crossed it out. What would you recommend given that I need to be able to fly with the seat? Again, price isn't so much of a factor as safety!

Thanks again!!!!

You don't want to travel with the Regent, that's for sure -- I use an Apex as our spare for travel: installs well in airplane seats with adjustable armrests.... If you want to try the Radian 1st just make sure the retailer has a really good return/exchange policy because it has some serious install issues even for techs.

You could probably get the Radian 65. I don't think you'll need the 80 lb limit seat since your DC is such a peanut. It's about $100 less than the Radian 80.
Try Target.com - you can return it to a Target store if it doesn't fit your car. Or if you need a seat to travel, how about the Safeguard GO. That looks more like a booster seat with a harness and is quite portable. I don't think you can use it ON the plane though.
