Wink Recaro convertible car seats

Does anyone own a recaro car seat, and what do you think of the manufacturer? Has anyone heard anything about their convertible models, the Signo or Como? My daughter is 8 months old, 27", 22lbs and the time has come to get a new seat...any help or opinions would be appreciated. Also, does anyone own an Evenflo Triumph 5? Opinions? Thank you!

I posted some basic info on the new Recaro convertible here > http://carseatdata.org/forum/showthread.php?t=106

Recaro itself is a very respected manufacturer (innovators of the industry) -- they've been making adult racing seats for some years They're still the only company to include EPS/EPP foam in the hip+torso areas of their boosters in addition to the head wings.... Recaro seats (like Britax, Compass, Chicco & a few others, but *not* Evenflo, Graco, Dorel Juvenile) sold by reputable retailers in the the US meet all applicable Federal safety standards via frontal crash testing as well as European side impact testing If you can use these seats correctly, they're awsome & I personally find Recaro's other seats very easy to use, not to mention that the kids find them very comfy!

Although, I did get to play with the new Evenflo Triumph Advance & I do really really really like it I wish it could tether RF, though, so if you can afford Recaro, I personally would only choose the ETA as a spare seat However, I don't think you would be at all unhappy with the ETA (being able to tether RF just helps to further reduce crash force upon the child by enhancing ride down: the most important thing being to merely keep kids RF till the maximum limits & use the seat correctly!)

Default recaro

I was planning on buying the Recaro for our vehicles, but I visit my brother about once a month in the Chicago area, and I take my 8 month old with me, so he is also in need of a new car seat for our visits. I just did not want to buy a $289 seat that may only be used 8-12 x a year. I read about that EFT in Consumer Reports, but I wasn't too sure how accurate their findings are. I have heard from more than 1 person that Cosco is a horrible manufacturer, and that they take too long to post recall info, yet CR has their seat rated in the top 5. I just wasn't sure which route to go for the occasional car seat. Do you have any other reccommendations?

You're right about Consumer Reports Cosco & Evenflo have taken too long in the past to recall seats, but the Scenera is a tried + true basic seat that does make a good spare for occasional use -- the Uptown is based on that with added EPS foam for side impact protection (as well as more comfort padding; no major change to the shell/frame itself) ... Evenflo's new Triumph Advance is also based on a tried + true product but with excellent changes to the shell/frame based on finally listening to technician feedback from experience in the field (that kids outgrow the old Triumph too soon & the height adjustment was just too difficult) so I do trust these particular seats.

In general I don't like most of their seats, but these I've seen, played with & actually do like
