| I have the Britax Decathalon in my SUV, which I love. I need a 2nd seat for my in-laws car, one that is not quite so big. I will also use it to fly with since the Decathalon barely fit into the airplane seat! My son will be 1 next week and weighs 25 lbs, about 31 inches. Any info./recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Last edited by griffygriff; 07-09-2007 at 09:14 AM. |

| What is the other vehicle year, make, model? The Safety 1st Uptown is a nice basic, reasonably priced, lightweight yet comfy & relatively easy to use convertible....

| My husband has a 2 door Acura so it is tight back there. In reality, whomever has the baby uses the big SUV so... The in-laws have more room in a 4 door Lexus & an Isuzu Rodeo. The airplane fit made me nervous. I was thinking of buying a Marathon since it is a bit cheaper than my Decathalon but it was so hard to get it on the plane! |

| Did you lift up the armrest(s) on the plane? I never had a problem when I did that: I also had the attendants check my seating at the gate to make sure I had armrests that could lift up -- if not they were always good about helping me out ... either switching my seats or asking if I'd need help installing. RF on the plane is usually easier, plus it helps to flip the buckle if installing FF (so you can release it easier afterwards) or there's a seatbelt extender which also helps. The Uptown is narrower than the Britax seats, though & not as tall Doesn't keep kids harnessed as long, but by the time it's outgrown there may be some nice travel options for a child that size!

| Yes, I lifted the arm rests. The problem was the space between his seat & the seat in front of his. I had him RF on the way there and he was too upright since I couldn't recline the Decathalon. Then on the way home the person in front reclined their seat & I couldn't even fit his seat in the RF position. I had to turn his seat around to FF. I will check out the Safety 1st. What about the Britax Roundabout? I read it is smaller & lighter than the Decathalon. Last edited by griffygriff; 07-10-2007 at 09:57 AM. |

| Ah, gotcha -- the Roundabout is about the same size as the Uptown with the same limits, but costs more & is heavier....
