| Hello! I'm new to this forum and hoping you can help. I'm trying to figure out what carseat to buy next for my DD1, as she is about to outgrow her harness on her Graco UltraCarGo and is not ready for a booster. Currently, in our '98 Accord we have DD1 in a Marathon and DD2 in the RA (both rear tethered-no latch). In our 2004 Acura MDX, we have DD1 in the CarGo and DD2 in a Marathon (both tethered and latched). In the MDX, they are both in the outboard seats of the middle row. I'd love to move one to the center so we can access the 3rd row when needed but couldn't get the current configuration to fit. I was thinking of moving the CarGo to the Accord for DD2 and getting a new seat for DD1 that will keep her harnessed for as long as possible. My DD2 looks like she is about to outgrow her RA when she sits in it, but according to her measurements it should still fit her for awhile. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Here are my girls stats: DD1-4y9mo-42in (T-14in)-35.5lbs DD2-3y1mo-38.5in (T-13.5 in)-30lbs |

| Yeah, while weight numbers are very strict, height measurement numbers are really just guidelines -- so long as the harness slot is even with or above the top of the shoulders then kiddo still fits.... I would feel fine saving the CarGos for your younger child and/or as spare seats. Does your older child fit the Marathon still? I found our 2003 MDX very easy to fit 3 seats across & did manage to fit the Marathon + CarGo next to each other in the middle row, but that might be a null issue at this point I would consider the Sunshine Kids Radian65 as it has 18" tall top harness slots & is very narrow, but installation could be quite difficult. Another option might be the Compass B510 booster with an EZOn Kid-Y harness? Contact customer service via www.ezonpro.com to make sure that's a possibility! The SafeGuard Childseat is also a really nice harness option -- it's expensive because it's made with very strong core material + it has lovely ease of use features & has been extensively tested (you would get 2 kids' worth of use out of it) The Britax Regent is undergoing a major installation method change at the moment so I hesitate to suggest that unless the vehicle has reclineable seatbacks (recline, install, then bring back upright for a secure fit).

| so long as the harness slot is even with or above the top of the shoulders then kiddo still fits.... I just checked them. It looks like I'm going shopping in the morning. The straps on the RA are right at if not over DD2's shoulders. My DD1 still fits her CarGo for now, but I'll be passing that on to my DD2. Does your older child fit the Marathon still? Both girls still fit their Marathons. I've loved them. I have about 2 more years before the DOM is too old. I found our 2003 MDX very easy to fit 3 seats across & did manage to fit the Marathon + CarGo next to each other in the middle row, but that might be a null issue at this point. Do you think it would fit better if I put both MAs in the Accord and put the CarGo and the Sunshine Kids (if that's what I get) in the MDX? If so, which one would go in the center or does it matter? Should the CarGo be in the car driven less or does it matter? I would consider the Sunshine Kids Radian65 as it has 18" tall top harness slots & is very narrow, but installation could be quite difficult. I'll check out both the Sunshine Kids and the Safeguard tomorrow. We're lucky to have a baby store that has all of its staff NHTSA Certified so I'll have them install whatever seat I get the first time. There is also a strong group here that offers carseat checks several times a month. The Britax Regent is undergoing a major installation method change at the moment so I hesitate to suggest that unless the vehicle has reclineable seatbacks (recline, install, then bring back upright for a secure fit). Thanks for the update. I was strongly considering the Regent. Maybe when I have to replace one of the Marathon's I'll get one then. I was also hoping to check out the Recaro Signo but I guess I can't wait. |

I probably would use the CarGos in the lesser used vehicle just because Britax does more extensive testing (including side impact).Quote:
I'm really excited about the Signo/Como, too, but they keep pushing back the release date, which is pretty annoying ![]()

| I'm really excited about the Signo/Como, too, but they keep pushing back the release date, which is pretty annoying [/quote] Last night I doubled checked the DOM on my Marathon's and found out one was 5/02- almost a full year before I purchased it. So I'll have to get another carseat next year and since it doesn't look like my girls will suddenly gain a lot of weight-I'll probably keep her harnessed even though by our laws she wouldn't even need to be boostered after 10/08. I'm hoping the Sunshine Kids works as my DH wasn't thrilled when I mentioned the other option was the SafeGuard at over $400.00. I'm bummed the Regent is off the list. |
