| I need a recommendation for a car seat. I have checked out Tiffany's website so I am hoping she will come and give me some advice ![]() My daughter is 4 1/2 about 42 inches and about 48-50lbs. She is in the Britax Marathon but the top slots are right at her shoulder height so she needs a new seat. Is a convertable seat or a booster going to be the best for her? And what car seat would you recommend? I was looking at the Graco Turbo Boosters and the Air Boosters and I can't tell the difference. I am very paranoid and we travel alot, but we can not afford the Safeguard right now (which I know would be the best to keep her in a harness.) We have a Kia Sedona and she will be sitting in the middle seat near the door (because her baby sister will be in the middle.) HELP!! |

| Hi there ![]() The Regent is less expensive than the Safeguard Childseat, but I don't actually remember how its cost compares to the Safeguard Go. The only high weight harness seats with higher top slot position than the Marathon are the Regent, Safeguard Childseat (not the Go) & Sunshine Kids Radian. Radian is the least expensive of these options & is the narrowest seat, too. You might only get 1-2 years out of the Radian for your bigger kiddo, but by then she should better be able to use a booster correctly & you could hand the Radian down to younger kiddo If your vehicle seatbacks recline then it should install well.Another option might be a dedicated booster with the EZOn Kid-Y harness? I think the only booster I would want to do this with is the Compass B510 because of the design of its belt guides. I'd consider this a last resort option, although a better last resort option than a booster alone or even than a Ride Safer Travel Vest.

| Do you know how high the top slots are on those three seats you mentioned? I found a site once with this info but for the life of me can't find it again!! I think the Marathon was 17.5 Oh and can I buy the Regent or the Radiance in a store rather than online (is so what stores?) SO at least I can have her sit in it and try them out. |

Most Babies 'R' Us stores have the Regent. The Radian is harder to find. If you have a USA Baby or a Buy Buy Baby where you are, they usually have them. Or, really, any kind of specialty baby boutique type of place. Even if they only have the Radian 80 (as opposed to the Radian 65) to try, the fit should be the same... it's the same shell and slot heights. The Radian 80 is more expensive, but has an 80 lb weight limit... the Radian 65 is a 65 lb limit. Those stores usually have the Regent as well. I don't know if any stores carry the Safeguard or not... I've only heard about it being ordered online. If you can wait another week or two, the Recaro Como is supposed to go up to 70 lbs and have 19" slot heights. Supposedly, they started shipping to stores late last week, so maybe you'll be able to check that one, too. There's also the Recaro Signo (similar specs, but higher end features), but it won't be out until later in the year.
