Default Idiot new mom question re: installation

Ok, I'm an idiot. I want to install my Boulevard and I went to the Britax site a while back to read the instructions there instead of reading the book that's attached to the seat. On the Britax site, the instructions state "do not discard the foan insert found under the cover" and it points to one of the 2styrofoam inserts near where the manual hides away. I just checked their site a minute ago and that message was there but the picture was not. Then I checked my manual that came with the seat and there is no mention of the styrofoam insert. What's the big deal with the styrofoam pieces? Why does it say to not throw them out on the website and no mention that I could find in the manual that comes with the seat? I'm sure most people assume they are part of packaging and throw them out just as I was about to do. Will a lack of styrofoam really compromise the integrity of this seat I paid all this money for? Can anyone explain?

Hi It's not styrofoam, it's energy absorbing foam (EPS/EPP) to reduce crash forces upon the child -- the same as what is used in bike helmets.... It is very important not to discard this!
