Default Car Seat for 1999 Jeep Cherokee

Hi,
I've been hearing that the backseat of the Jeep Cherokee is not very car seat friendly. I have a 99 Cherokee Classic (not a grand Cherokee). Has anyone had any problems with this? Any suggestions on which seats do fit? The back seat is more of a bench seat, so I'm not sure if the problem is that the base overhangs the seat?

Thank you!!

How old and what size is the child?

I've used a Cosco Scenera and Britax Marathon without any trouble in a 1997 Jeep Cherokee.

They have locking latchplates, which are nice for carseat installations. The bench is wide enough for most carseats. It's fine if it overhangs a little, as long as 80% of the base is on the vehicle seat.

Default I had a Cherokee and had no issues

We had no problems putting our Britax Marathon in our Cherokee, even using the Versa-tether strap. We did have some issues with our Graco Snugride, but that seat didnt fit well in any vehicle we have had.

That is very interesting -- the Snugride is commonly known as quite an easy seat to install & use

It never got a tight fit in our 94 Cherokee, 99 cherokee or our 98Buick LeSabre (which doesnt have a flat seat to begin with), but it would install in the back bench seat of our 97 Dodge Ram.
Everyone else raves about how easy they are, but for us it just didnt work well.
