I went into my local Babies R Us the other day in hopes of researching a seat for Grandma's car and decided to check out the Maxi Cosi. Much to my surprise, Maxi Cosi is made by Dorel, which also makes Cosco and Eddie Bauer. After further investigation it turns out that Maxi Cosi makes the fabric cover and contracts Dorel to do the rest.
I just really like to know who exactly Im buying a carseat from, not what name is printed on it.
Im now trying to fill in the blanks on all carseats on the market. If you can fill in any missing makers, or have corrections to any I have listed, please let me know!

Recaro rep, Is there any chance of the Recaro seats being built in the USA anytime soon? I know my Recaros were built in China.

Even Britax has plants in North Carolina. Our Regent was built there.

Safeguard is made by IMMI -- IMMI also makes emergency vehicle restraint systems & restraints for school buses as well as pet restraints.... IMMI makes LATCH + about 75% of harnesses used on all carseats.

	LATCH LATCH stands for Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren. It is a system mandated by the Federal government in an effort to standardize and simplify the installation of child restraints without using the vehicle's seat belt system. New vehicles and child safety seats manufactured on and after September 1, 2002 will be equipped with the LATCH system. Cars, minivans, and light trucks will be required to have anchor points between the vehicle's seat cushion and the seat back in at least two rear seating positions, and a top tether anchor (with the exception of convertibles). Child safety seats will have a lower set of attachments that fasten to the vehicle anchors. Most forward-facing child safety seats will also have a top strap (tether) that attaches to the top anchor in the vehicle.
