Question 2 Britax seats in 2003 Protege?

We have 9 month old twins that are just about to outgrow their infant seats and we don't think our convertible Britax Roundabout seats will fit rear facing in our car. My husband tried once and couldn't get them to work. Has anyone used 2 rear-facing seats in a small car? Maybe we should just get a professional installer to check it out?

Also, we are thinking about getting a larger car (the other one is a corolla) -- does anyone have any experience with 2 carseats in either a Taurus wagon or a Mazda 6 wagon? Do you suggest an SUV or minivan instead? We will probably have a new baby while the girls are still in booster seats. We just want to plan to have enough room.

Thanks!!

I know someone who fit a BIG Britax (65 pound weight limit one) in a Porsche 911!

You don't need a full 45 degree recline angle for babies who have good head and neck control. That's only necessary for newborns. Install the convertibles as upright as is comfortable for your baby. Use the rear-facing tether. Brace the carseats against the front vehicle seat(s). Voila!

Check out the Radian as well. Several people can fit 3 across in a larger car...if it fits rear facing (it is very tall, so may not), could be a good solution. Built REALLY solidly too, with an alloy frame. I wish it would have fit for me.
