Default Booster for Subaru Forester

We have a 2004 Subaru Forester and need to buy a booster seat for my son. Does anyone have a recommendation for a seat that fits well?

How old is your son? How tall and how heavy? What is your budget?

Booster seats do not really have incompatibilities like carseats do because booster seats just sit on the vehicle seat (do not get hooked in), the child sits in the booster and the vehicle lap+shoulderbelt gets buckled around the child.

He is 3 years old but big - 42" and 42 pounds. We can spend up to $100 or so. It looks like you use a Britax, and I don't think we can afford one. Do you know of any others that are good?

The Graco TurboBooster is great, but your son really still needs to be harnessed. 4 years old and 40 pounds is the bare minimum to safely move to a booster seat, and kids under age 5 are more likely to sustain head injuries in a crash if they are in a booster vs. a harness. Think of it this way: when a child is in a harnessed seat the responsibility of being properly restrained is on the parents, but when a child moves to a booster seat the responsibility is shifted to the child. He can easily move out of position while the parent is concentrating on the road.

We're moving my dd back to a harnessed seat because she is not mature enough to use her Parkway properly, even after almost 2 years of "practice" trips (we use the booster for short, around-town trips to get her used to it).

I'm not an expert..but our 40lb 41inch year old is in the APEX 65 booster in our '99 Subaru Forrester. I got it for about 90 dollars on clearance at Babies R' Us because it's red, and now it only comes in blue.
