Default Rear Facing for Large Baby

My son is fairly large, at 6 months he was 30" and 21 lbs. That was a month ago. I don't really want to know how tall he is now. My problem is rear facing seats. I know he is already too tall and weighs too much for his seat now, but I can't find a good alternative. If I get a combo seat then I can't lift him out easily when he is asleep, plus all the combo seats I have seen do not recline as much as a "just" rear facing seat. I am lost. I saw one from Graco that was rear facing upto 30 lbs and 1 yr, but he is only a few inches away from the max length they say is the length for a 1 yr old. My guess is that seat would last 1 month, if he hasn't grown in a month (LOL).

Does anyone have any good suggestions? I just don't want to resort to a combo if there is an answer out there.

Lisa

Have you looked into the Britax Marathon, Decathlon or Boulevard? It's a combo seat, but it has a higher weight limit than most. It's also the only seat I know of that you can tether while r/f...so you can get more of a recline.

Quick FYI:

convertible seat=rear-faces to 30, 33 or 35 pounds, forward-faces to 40, 55 or 65 pounds.

combo seat=forward-facing ONLY seat that converts to a belt positioning booster when the harness is outgrown.

Britax 65 pound weight limit seats or the Fisher Price Safe Voyage Deluxe are your best options. They have the tallest seat shell to make sure baby doesn't get too tall to rear-face before reaching the rear-facing weight limit.

The Fisher Price is made by Britax and is a Marathon clone without the rear-facing top tether and built-in lockoffs.
