Default Britax Boulevard flat on seat?

I've got a Britax Boulevard for my son. It has been facing the rear but now he is over 1 year and almost 25 pounds so its time to switch the seat. In the rear position the seat fit fine. Now that I'm trying to get to face front, I'm having difficulties. Specifically, the design of the car's seats is such that the only way to tightly connect the Britax places the base at an angle to the car's seat. Is this ok? there is no "play" or movement in the seat, but it looks wrong, it looks like the base should be totally flat on the car's seat. Any ideas or advice?

Rear-facing is so much safer than forward-facing and you have one of the best rear-facing seats out there. It has a 33 pound rear-facing weight limit and a very tall seat shell to accommodate even the tallest kids rear-facing to 33 pounds.

Kids under age 2 who are forward-facing are 4 times more likely to be killed in a crash than those who are still rear-facing.

That being said (and even though I highly encourage you to keep baby rear-facing as long as possible), did you make sure to put the base in the "upright" position when you moved it facing forward?
