Default Pilot and fitting 2 convertible car seats

I am looking for carseats for my twins that will fit in my 2006 pilot. They are 4 months old now, but I think by 6-7 months DS will outgrow his IC because of length. We have the 2 IC in the middle and behind the driver. They are both installed using seatbelts as we got a more secure fit than the LATCH - per our inspector.

So can we fit two marathons? Or other Britax carseats in the big side of the back seat so we can still have access to the 3rd row? Can the convertible car seats be installed with seat belts like the ICs?

I am considering one Marathon and one Roundabout since DS is a bit bigger than DD.

TIA

If you can fit the IC in there, you will be able to fit 2 Marathons. IMHO, I wouldn't worry about the Roundabout. It will only harness to 40lbs and you want to keep your kiddos harnessed for as long as possible. You WANT to keep your kiddos RFing for as long as possible and a LOT of kids will outgrow the RA in height before weight. The other nice thing is that you don't have to have that full 45 degree angle that ic's are at. The can be between 30-45 degrees as long as the child has good head control and doesn't flop forward when they are sleeping.

I'm not too worried about the 45lb weight limit -I think in the next few years there will be laws revised and I'll need additional car seats then anyway -so I'm planning to purchase another one wehn they outgrow this next purchase -and just want to buy the best one for them now -does that make sense?
DS's head will flop forward now anyway -when he's asleep, so I will want to have it reclined as much as possible.

Thanks for the answer.
Now looking at the Fisher price one.

Instead of having to buy another, why not get one now that has a higher limit? Also be careful with the fisher price. They stopped making them, so the date of manufacture will likely be fairly old (last one I saw was 4/2007), so call the place and ask before purchasing it.

Here are some convertible seats that I usually recommend based on how long you can keep your child harnessed...the longer the better!!!

1--Britax Marathon/Boulevard/Decathlon. All these seats will RF to 33lbs (as of 12/31/07, they are going to RF to 35lbs) and then FF, IN A HARNESS to 65lbs. These seats run $200-$300. There are small differences between them. The Marathon is the basic model of the 65lb convertibles with a lift lever harness release--with quite a few different covers to choose from! The Boulevard has "wings" called True Side Impact Protection. It also has a harness adjustor that will move the harness without having to uninstall the seat. It is about 1/2" shorter than the Marathon and the Decathlon. The Decathlon has extra padding--the infant insert--and a push button harness release. Britax : Safe for a reason

2--Evenflo Triumph ADVANCE--harness to 35lbs RFing and 50lbs FFing. It has the infinite harness adjustor (no slots), so you can easily lift two red tabs and move them. This seat runs $129-$159, depending on which model. The higher end model, the premier, has more padding. Toys"R"Us/Babies"R"Us

3--Compass TrueFit---BRAND NEW and was supposed to be released Jan 15. It will RF to 33lbs (with the headrest on and 22lbs without the headrest on) and FF to 65lbs. Not a lot of information out on this seat, but I anticipate it to be a really nice one! Runs about $179-$189. They have several covers available. Amazon.com: The First Years True Fit Convertible...Amazon.com: The First Years True Fit Convertible...
4--Fisher Price Safe Voyage Deluxe--Made by Britax, but has been discontinued due to low sales, so you will likely get an older date of manufacture. Harness to 33lbs RF and 55lbs FF. The only place I have seen it is at this website runs $129. It just doesn't have all the 'bells and whistles' that the Britax seats have. Fisher Price Safe Voyage Deluxe Convertible Car Seat in Black

5--Sunshine Kids Radian 65 or 80--These seats will RF to 33lbs and FF to either 65lbs or 80lbs, depending on the seat. These are the narrowest seats on the market, but have the highest incompatability with vehicles due to the low FF belt path. Runs $180-$300. Sunshine Kids Juvenile Products

6--Recaro Signo or Como--RF to 35lbs and FF to 70lbs. These seats come in a variety of microfiber covers. They have true side impact protection, but the Como is VERY oddly shaped. The shoulder area is 9" of space and the butt area is 11" of space, so unless you have a tall beanpole, this seat may be awkward for some children. I haven't played with the Signo, so I don't know the measurements off the top of my head. They are supposed to go to 59 or 60" tall---I dont' see it. Runs $250. .: RECARO :.

Most of these seats have a higher sticker price on them, BUT the seats that have the 40lbs harness limits, that are less expensive, usually only harness the child to maybe age 3-4. AT that age, MOST children are not ready to go into a booster. Bare minimum safety standards say that you can put a 4 year old AND 40lbs child in one, BUT being in a harness is MUCH safer....not just for children, but adults as well.
