graco snugride in 2004 hyundai santa fe

We took our bases to the state police today to have them install our infant bases for the snugride. My husband has a Jeep Grand Cherokee and it fit perfectly. I have a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe and it does not fit snug. The deisgn of the buckles are creating the base to slide left to right. Anyone else have that problem or have a suggestion on making the base fit tight?

you dont have locking latchplates, but belts that lock at the retractor. you will need to pull the seatbelt all the way out (this will cause the seat belt to lock as it retracts) and then thread it though the base. pull tight and you should have a great fit. Also, you can use your LATCH, which could be potentially much easier than the seatbelt, but i know that the anchors are sometimes difficult to get to in hyundais (atleast in the tucson's) but it will probably end up being much easier for you to tighten.

	LATCH LATCH stands for Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren. It is a system mandated by the Federal government in an effort to standardize and simplify the installation of child restraints without using the vehicle's seat belt system. New vehicles and child safety seats manufactured on and after September 1, 2002 will be equipped with the LATCH system. Cars, minivans, and light trucks will be required to have anchor points between the vehicle's seat cushion and the seat back in at least two rear seating positions, and a top tether anchor (with the exception of convertibles). Child safety seats will have a lower set of attachments that fasten to the vehicle anchors. Most forward-facing child safety seats will also have a top strap (tether) that attaches to the top anchor in the vehicle.
