Default please help finding carseat to fit my car

Hi
I'm new to this site and was hoping someone could help me. I drive a mercedes sedan s class. My baby is currently in a peg perrego infant seat but needs a convertible seat. I went today to buy a recaro signo or britax boulevard for her but the car seat tech couldn't get either seat in the middle position without covering the one of the seatbelt clips for the other two back seats He also said putting it behind the passenger seat wasn't a good idea due to side airbags.. I need those two seat belts for my other children. Does anyone have any suggestions . The car set tech tried using noodles and it still didn't work. selling my car is not an option as it is 1 year old. Please help!! My 6 month old is seriously outgrowing her infant seat.

Thanks in advance

I would find a new tech personally. And are you sure he was a tech? I ask that because people claim to be just because they work at xyz...and are around lots of seats and are installing them when they have no business doing so.

1. You don't use pool noodles with a Britax convertible.
2. Unless the car manual or the carseat manual forbid putting the carseat next to a side airbag, there is no reason not to put it next to the airbag.

Are your other children in boosters?

A Radian might be a good fit because it's the narrowist convertible on the market. A radian would probably have to go in the middle because it has such a fixed recline, whereas other convertibles have the ability to be more upright. And older babies and toddlers can be more upright.(Sorry if baby is a boy and I used the wrong pronoun.)

How big is your baby? She'll be too big for the carrier when 1 of 2 things happen. She has less than 1" of hard shell above her head OR when she hits the weight limit.

Thanks for your reply. He owns a local baby store and said he is a certified tech. He tried both the boulevard and recaro signo with and wthout noodles and could't make it fit. My other 2 children are 11 and 12 and just in regular seatbelts. I will have to find my owners manual aboutputting the carseat on the side. he just said it was safest in the middle. is radain a good quality carseat equal to britax and boulevard. My daughter is 21 lbs at her 6 month appt last week. So i do need a new seat asap. Thanks for any help you can offer.

The radian 65 is very well respected. Other than Britax it is the only brand that allows RF tethering.

As for Middle being safest..that is true...and one of the big kids should go there, as a RF child is much safer than a child in just a seat belt. We like to say the put the least protected child in the most protected spot. RF provides the most protection. That's why I would put a younger RF child outboard over a child in just a seatbelt.

Do your big kids pass the 5 Step Test?
