Hello to everyone, I'm new here and I'm really in a desperate situation as I stated below. Sorry it took so long
Do you have any information on whether I could use a convertible car seat for a Reanult Megane HB. I live in Turkey, and there are no convertible seats here and no one can answer my question, which is a shame I believe. I want my child to sit rear facing as long as possible. I have mailed nearly all convertible seat manufacturers to ask about the compatibility, very few returned saying ask to your car's manufacturer. I also mailed to Renault a week ago, they haven't returned yet. Britax doesn't recommend rear facing position for its seats in a Megane, they haven't stated why (Also send a mail to them asking why, and also haven't returned). Dorel UK send me an e-mail saying they can't help for convertible seats are designed only for US usage, why there is such a difference between US and other countries, anyone knows the answer please tell me. In short, do you have any idea whether I can use Maxi Cosi Priori Convertible seat in my car or not? Thank you for help.

PS: This is a great forum actually, it helps a lot, thank you all for sharing your knowledge.

I'm sorry that I have never seen or heard of this vehicle. The Maxi Cosi seats are shorter and will install in smaller vehicles. Is there any possible way to purchase a seat and if it is incompatiable in your vehicle, return it?

Convertible seats are not sold in Turkey that's why I have to purchase one from US, so I don't know much about returning options for a purchased item. And also another problem no online stores ship products to overseas. I always have to give my relative's address to the seller and they send it to them and then they send it to me. So it takes a little while for me to get the item I bought. Britax responded my mail saying "Based on the Model Renault Megane 2003 5 door we tested we found that the First class si fitting it rearward facing that the seat belt buckle was too short and outer anchorage point was too forward causing the seat to twist on impact, which made it unsuitable for this particular vehicle." What I understand about the latter only way I can see whether it is safe for my car is to have an impact. And also they said it not legal to use a model designed for US in an European car for the safety regulations are different. I think for now I will stick to my Maxi Cosi Infant car seat (used up to 13 kilos- appr. 28 pounds) and later try to change my car based on the Britax's car fitting information in order to get the safest seat possible. Thank you very much...
