| Hello, I'm looking to take advantage of the expertise on this board. My son is 11 months old, 19 1/2 lbs, and almost 30 inches tall. He is currently in a Graco SnugRide in the center position. We drive a 2003 VW Jetta station wagon. What convertible seats would you recommend? TIA! |

| IME, those with tall bases work best -- like Britax.... The Radian does not work in this vehicle. The Marathon is generally a wiser buy long term because it keeps kids harnessed longer than the Roundabout (to make sure they're truly mature enough to use a booster properly when it is outgrown). If the adults don't have room with the Marathon in the center, I would put it behind the front passenger seat & just sit myself behind the driver (the backseat is safer for everyonea anyway + kiddo could use the entertainment/soothing). You can Google the Britax website to read the manuals for each of their convertibles to see what features you might like best -- Boulevard has the Rip Stitch tether (like the Marathon) to reduce crash forces upon the child + its harness height adjustment is really easy & the Roundabout's new counterpart seats have an expensive but nice new feature "Seat Logix" which helps parents achieve proper install & Britax seats are nice because they can be tethered RF which also reduces crash forces upon the child. Just remember that every seat must be secure such that it moves less than 1 inch at the belt path (tether is not for achieving correct installation & untethered seats will move at the top). The Safety 1st Uptown might work well, but I haven't tried it. The *new* Evenflo Triumph might also work, but I haven't tried it. Also remember that babies outgrow their infant seats when there is less than 1 inch between the top of the head & inside edge of the shell/frame.
