| My son is about to outgrow his infant car seat. I'm trying to do as much research as possible before buying a convertible car seat for him. I tried finding info on crash test ratings for the car seats but all I find is ease of use ratings. Anyway I was interested in getting a Britax....either the Boulevard (Side impact protection) or the Marathon. At the store someone suggested the Alpha Omega Elite (Cosco) since it goes up to 100lbs. To me that doesn't look entirely safe for a 7 month old. It looks better suited for an older child. Here's my question: I'm looking to find one that would fit if possible the 3 cars my family owns. Scion TC 2005 Subaru Forrester 2006 Honda Pilot 2004 Most likely it will go in the Subaru or the Honda (the family's cars), but on occasion I take my Scion out and would like one that fits in this as well in case the other cars are being used by other family members. Right now it will go in rear facing. I am not concerned about room for the front passenger seat. I only travel w/my son and at most 1 other person who can sit in the back so this is not an issue. Safety is number 1, so what best suits my son and the car is what I'm looking for. Thanks! Maya |

| as far as the costco seat goes, it only harnesses to 40 lbs and has to be used as a booster after than. it doesnt make a very good boosters, and i wouldnt take that mode into account when deciding on a seat. im my mind, it goes to 40 lbs. most kiddos arent ready for a booster at that size and should preferably be harnessed longer. heres where the britax seats come in (and a few others). have you tried playing with the seats in your car? its hard to determine if one seat will fit all three vehicles, but i can tell you that the britax convertables fit well in most vehicles. can you get your hands on some seats, like at babies r us? try installing them in your car, and go from there.

| Yep, the Britax Marathon or Boulevard does fit all of your vehicles & keeps kiddos harnessed longer -- if you do a search in this forum for Alpha Omega, you'll see that it's generally not a well recommended seat: it's fine for rearfacing (assuming it has the recall issue has been repaired as per the manufacturer) but the harness is usually outgrown before a child is ready for a booster & then the booster is often outgrown before the child may safely ride without one + when bought for an infant it will expire before that time.... Cosco does a great job marketing this item ("the only carseat you'll ever need") but it's hogwash -- most parents end up spending more $ in the long run when choosing this seat. My advice is to choose a highweight harness convertible now, like the Britaxes named above, which should last until kiddo is truly ready for a booster.
