Default Help The Britax Blvd did not fit in my SUV

I really wanted the Blvd but it did not fit in my car. 1999 RAV4. DS is 8 months old and 18.5-19lbs and in a Graco Snugride. I am looking for a good carseat to fit in my SUV. Anyone have experience with fit in a RAV4?

How did it not fit? Which seating location & what specifically was not right?

The seat is right behind the driver. There was not enough room to place the seat RF correctly and give the driver any leg room. I am 5'8" so I will need a bit of room. We have a booster behind the passenger seat for my 7 yo.

I also clicked your link to see if there was someone who could check the seat out for us after we install it. There was no one for our area. Is there another site that may list CST?

Which booster?
Did you try installing the carseat in the center?
How often is there a front seat passenger?
Does baby have any developmental delays?

Usually, the front seat occupants have plenty of room with RF seats in the rear center. Front seat passenger is safe so long as there is at least 10" between face & airbag depolyment surface. At this age, baby could be reclined anywhere between 30-45 degrees instead of the full 45 degree recline (only necessary for newborns) this more upright angle can help increase front seat room. The Britax Parkway booster lacks armrests to make buckling in tight squeezes easier & puzzles in next to the Boulevard nicely....

Which booster? Evenflow BigKid I think
Did you try installing the carseat in the center? We tried to do the infant seat and it did not fit so we did not try the Blvd. Do you think it might fit?
How often is there a front seat passenger? Not much but I have to pick up older son from carpool so he has to sit on that side.
Does baby have any developmental delays? No delays sitting up by himself at 5 1/2 months.

We did only try the 45 degree how much room will a less angle give us. I would need a good 2-3 inches. The infant seat that we have now barely fits without the driver seat touching and giving me enough room to drive without my knees hitting the dash.

It certainly can't hurt to try the Boulevard in the center: I think it should be possible Otherwise, do try it more upright behind the driver, too -- the good thing about Britax seats is that they can be braced against the front seatback.... Just make sure it's installed securely (less than 1" movement at the LATCH or seatbelt path) as per both carseat + vehicle manuals before bracing.

If all else fails, there are a number of shorter shelled convertible carseats: Britax Roundabout & Safety 1st Uptown would be my choices. I suggest saving towards purchasing a high weight FF seat for use after kiddo outgrows a shorter shelled convertible (since too few kids are truly ready for a booster when they outgrow 40# limit harnesses).

The CPST finder in my signature is the most uptodate, but you can also try calling 1-866-SEATCHECK or the various techs + advocates at Car Seat.Org - Carseat, Vehicle & Child Passenger Safety Forums can usually help out, especially if you can share details like pictures, etc.

Thank you. I think I will go back and try the Blvd again. Not sure it will fit in the middle due to the fact that older son has to buckle his seat. Unless we get a seat that goes up to 80# with the harness. That may solve my middle seat problem. If he does not need to buckle then I my get the Blvd in the middle. If not I will try less of an angle. The Tech at BRU said he would not put the driver seat up against the carseat due to the fact that will take away movement from the carseat in a crash.

Are you sure that was a CPST at BRU? Did you see their SafeKids certification card? It's perfectly acceptable/safe to brace Britax carseats -- the vehicle seats themselves move in a crash anyway: crash test videos show that braced carseats still move, too....
