Question 01 QX4 - Britax or Radian

Hello all,

I have an '01 Infiniti Qx4 and am looking at the Radian 80. I currently have a Britax Decathlon now installed in my hubby's car.

My daughter is 10 mths 21 lbs and almost 30in. She is taking after my hubby so far - he is 6'2 while I'm 5'2. I think I would like to keep her rear facing until 33lbs. I am looking for a seat she can grow in and that is easy to transfer between vehicles. My friends and I take the kids to the zoo and other trips and need to be able to take the seat from my vehicle to their vans pretty quickly and vice versa. Would you recommend the Radian or another Britax. I am most concerned with safety and comfort!

We will be traveling to PA or MD this weekend to try the Radian in the suv.

I am also curious about having the lower anchors (LATCH) installed. The 02 QX4 has the LATCH but my 01 only has the v top tether in the back of the suv. Is it possible to have the lower anchors installed?

It is not possible to have lower anchors retrofitted, only tether anchors can be retrofitted.

You might want to browse this thread Radian Successful Install Thread - Car Seat.Org - Carseat, Vehicle & Child Passenger Safety Forums to see if anyone has successfully installed a Radian in a QX4. Not sure if it's in there, but it might be worth a look if it is . And you could check to see if your friends' vans are on there too.

Just so you know - the Radian 80 is the same seat as the Radian 65, just with a higher weight limit. Most kids outgrow carseats by height before weight (certainly your DD will from what you've described!). So she'd probably outgrow the 65 by height before she even reached 65 pounds. I know there is a significant price diff between the 2, so wanted you to know if you want to save a few bucks. Unless you just gotta have that adorable Princess cover that is only offered on the 80!

One of the big differences between the Radian & Britax seats is that the Radian does not sit up on a "Base" like the Britax seats do. Just a personal preference thing one way or the other, just a diff between the 2.
