Default Need some help finding a car seat for my 07 Honda Civic Coupe

Ok so I have a convertible car seat already. I have the Britax Roundabout. It has never really fit all that good in the center seat of my car. I have an 07 Honda Civic coupe, not a great car for having kids but still. Anyway, I recently got into an accident (not a bad one and I am sure the car seat is fine) but my insurance is requiring that I replace it and they are paying for it so I am trying to find a new one that fits better in my car. Any suggestions? This is really meant specifically for people who have my car or similiar (06 model and later). Otherwise I would just go shop on my own and find a car seat. I really do like the roundabout overall just trying to see if there isn't something that would work better. Thanks!

First, if there is any possible way for you to get to a Babies R Us or other specialty shop that carries Britax, try them before you buy. The RA is a nice seat, but for some extra money, you can get a Marathon or a Boulevard and keep your child rear facing longer b/c the shell is taller. You can also keep your child harnessed to 65lbs vs only 40 with the RA.

In your vehicle manual, does it allow the installation of a carseat in the middle? How old is your child? If you child is still RFing and has more upper body control, you can recline the seat between 30-45 degrees (as long as their head doesn't flop forward when trying to sleep).

If you aren't getting a very good install in the middle, I would move the seat to an outboard location to see if you can get a better install. If you are still having issues, take your vehicle to a car seat tech and see if they can assist you!

No I have tried putting her to the side and that is a definite no go. The middle is best not only due to the lack of room but also because my car has side air bags all the way around. Scares me. I bought the roundabout due to the size constraints. I am looking into a Recaro Signo. Expensive but I think it might work better in my car.

Look here to find your local technicians

Side curtain airbags are not dangerous for kids in carseats -- they're safer than not having them A secure/correct outboard installation is much safer than a loose/incorrect center installation, no matter what kind of fancy features the vehicle or carseat has Correct use always trumps extra features....

& YAY for you that the insurance company is so easily offering to pay for a new seat! Lots of people have to fight for that

Ditto pp. From my understanding, as long as the carseat is installed correctly AND the harness is snug on the body, the side airbag should not affect your child if deployed. Again, check your vehicle manual.
