I guess this is more of a vent than anything else, but I'm shopping for a convertible car seat to replace my Britax Companion, for something that will fit my long, tall baby boy (5 mo) for as long as possible before being outgrown. I would love to continue to have the side impact protection and go with the Boulevard, but it's the Decathlon that has the 3 adjustable slots for the crotch strap. Gosh almighty why can they just stick the removable side impact protection head piece from the Boulevard onto the Decathlon and be done with it? I checked the Britax website spare parts section and it doesn't look like you can purchase it separately...... but even if you could, they'd probably want at least $100 bucks for it and then when it's all paid for you'd have a $400 car seat!

Most children never have a problem with the one position crotch strap---just the parents. I actually prefer the BLVD over the decatlon--you won't need the infant insert in either seat and I prefer the LATCH bars with 2 individual straps over 1 strap. And no, you can't buy the headwings and modify a carseat. Susan

The BLVD has a bar that goes around the sides and front...and it has two straps on either side with a latch connector on the end. So there are 2 tails to pull. When it's time to turn from RF to FF...you have to switch which side the connectors are on to the opposite side. The decathalon has 1 strap with a connector on either end. When it's time to switch from RF to FF you have to move the strap from the RF belt path to the FF belt path. I don't think either method is hard, just different and maybe a personal preference type thing. Susan
