After a lot of research and several depressing trips to drive mini vans, my husband and I have discovered that it is possible to fit 3 car seats across the back of our Subaru Forester! The Forester (2004) is about the same size as the Legacy, Outback, and Impreza back seat (51 or 52" inches hip room with closer to 54" at the shoulder level where car seats are the widest). We've fit the following combination of seats in the car: 1. Britax Diplomat (same size as Roundabout) - 18" wide - facing forward or backward 2. Safeguard Go Hybrid Booster - 17" wide 3. Britax Marathon - forward facing OR Graco Snug Ride Infant Carrier - 18" -19" wide Coming this fall, we'll have a 4 year old in the booster, a nearly 2 year old in one of the Britax seats and an infant in the Snug Ride or other Britax seat. The fit is very tight with the Marathon (the largest of the above seats), but is comfortable with the Snug Ride. Most likely, we'll put the Marathon in my husband's car for trips when he has just one of our older boys and buy a second Safeguard Go when our middle son is big enough (22 lbs and 31 inches), as this would be a very comfortable fit with the Britax Diplomat.

I have a 2001 Subaru Legacy Outback. I presently have 2 Graco TurboBoosters and I am now trying to figure out how to make room for baby #3. I measured the backseat and it is barely 50", really it is closer to 48 or 49". If I push the boosters to the very edge of the seat, which isn't that easy because of the "bucket" slope, and measure in between the armrests I have 16" left. At the seat level I have 17". I purchased a Baby Trend Flex-Loc, which is by far the narrowest base I could find, and I can fit the seats, but there is NO room between the armrests and the baby seat, so I cannot reach to buckle my older kids. I cannot foresee putting my 4 and 6 year olds back into harnesses, so I really do need to stay with 2 belt positioning boosters. So my question is this-Is anyone currently using two boosters and an infant or convertible seat in a 2001 Legacy Outback? I have seen older posts with suggestions, but the Britax Parkway, BodyGuard, and StarRiser have all been discontinued. I have tried a number of different configurations using my Turbo Boosters, the Flex-Loc, my Britax Roundabout, and I cannot find a suitable fit. Please help!

Thank you so much! I have been trying to find out if I can keep my forrester, with my third on the way in October and a 6 and 2 year old. One question - how did you install (which went in the middle, did you use tethers or LATCH,etc?) Thanks!
