| Hi Everyone! Our 2002 Honda Odyssey is having some major issues and we've decided to trade it in for a smaller car. We would prefer a sedan or wagon over a mini-SUV, SUV, or another van. I have two, rear-facing 16 month olds and one forward facing 3 year old that's right at 30 pounds and 32 inches tall. Currently we have the twins in Evenflo Triumph seats and the toddler in a Cosco Alpha Omega. We are not against buying new seats, but we would prefer to use some or all of these. We are currently looking at a 2004 Saab 9-5 Sedan. The backseat looks very roomy, but is a tad too small for our current seats. Any ideas?! How do you fit three in something other than a van / SUV? Thanks, Anna *Edit to add: I did look around, but it seems most folks wanting to use three across have at least one booster or one infant seat. That's not our case, so I made a new post. Sorry if I didn't look close enough. ![]() Last edited by anna; 08-06-2007 at 12:46 PM. |

| Those are 3 rather wide seats What is your total maximum budget?I have not checked seats in any Saabs, so I cannot give advice based on experience -- but some seats generally puzzle together better than others.... In the end the safest thing would be for you to have a local CPST check your installs.

| We would prefer to spend less than $500 buying new seats, if we can not use ours. The Cosco and one Evenflo can be recycled in my husband's car for outings with just two girls, so it's not a huge loss. I noted on the measurements page that the Touriva is the most narrow seat listed. I know since carseats are federally regulated, that it's still safe even at $50 - but is this something we want to do? We could buy three new Tourivas and I believe they would fit. Is there a better seat out there that could work out in a three convertibles in a row situation? I don't put much faith in Consumer Reports anymore! Thank you for the quick reply. ![]() |

| In reading more and more it seems that Sunshine Kids Radian seats would be better suited, especially if we plan to keep the car awhile (which we do). The girls would eventually all grow out of the Touriva seats and need boosters - which present the issue of needing to reach buckles between the seats. Does anyone know of the best place to purchase? I know BRU has a pretty high mark-up, but they also offer a 10% discount for multiples. |

| I think the Radians are your best bet -- assuming they fit the vehicle correctly.... They have a bit of an installation learning curve! Or a Radian in the center for your oldest between 2 Britax Marathons/Fisher Price Safe Voyage Deluxes (FPSVD is based on the Marathon & it puzzles nicely with the Radian). Once your twins reach the maximum RF limits & bigger kiddo needs a booster, you could consider the Ride Safer Travel Vest instead, but there may very well be other narrow options to choose from for tight squeezes by then ![]()

| I'd suggest the Radians as well. You might "just" be able to squeeze another inbetween. I have 2 Saabs 9-5s (a sedan and wagon), and they are definately wider than most vehicles out there. But all in all the best likely fit is the Radians. We have 2 seats, a Britax Marathon, and a Regent in ours (two sets one for each Saab). I doubt we could get a third in there... But we might be able to use the 'built in booster' Saab offers in the center... (no actually we'd use a 'real booster' if we went that route...) |

| An update! We went with the two convertible seats that we had, Evenflo Triumphs and they are rear-facing on the sides with LATCH. In the middle, we opted for a Safeguard Go! 5-point harness seat with the car belt and a rear tether. I have not found a ton of reviews on the Go! seat, but trust the company. We were able to follow instructions and get a very tight install with it, so it was the choice for us. There was no where local to see a Radian. All of the seats are installed without touching. My husband has minimal leg room, but he only rides along on weekend trips. He is fine in the driver seat, so I am the passenger for the weekends - nice change! |
