Default Jetta GL sedan 1999 - help?what car seat

Hi everyone,
Please help! We have a Jetta GL 1999 sedan. I am due in 8 weeks now and need to get a car seat. Does anyone know which rear facing infant seats are compatible and a good fit. If you know one that won't fit, that would be great too.
Thanks in advance.

You will probably be looking into getting an infant carrier and most will fit in the rear seat of your Jetta, BUT you will be looking at moving the front passenger seat forward enough to allow for "ride down" in a crash that you might not be able to fit a passenger in that seat. If you decided to put the seat in the middle position, then you would be looking at moving both front seats forward. It's a tight fit, but you should be able to fit one in there.

Good Luck and Be Safe!

I'd look for one that allows or insists that the handle must be up in the car. The Graco Snugride or SafeSeat1, the Chicco KeyFit or the Combi infant seats would be good choices.

I'd start with the KeyFit or the SafeSeat1 because they have built in lock-offs on the base making them easier to install. If you have a Babies R Us in your area, they will allow you to do test installs with the seats in your car.

Get a head start by reading the section in your car manual that pertains to carseats and look at the manuals of the seats you want to try online.

Susan
