Default Infant Seat for a Toyota Scion tC

Can anyone provide a recommendation for an infant car seat that will fit in the back of a Scion tC? I tried the Graco SnugFit and the Britax infant seat and I couldn't even put the two front seats back to sit in. I then tried both seats in the passenger side (which I really do not want to do) and although I was able to securely install the seat, I could not put the front passenger seat back into place for a person to ride in it. Unfortunately, getting a new car is not an option right now. So, what is the smallest infant car seat (measured from front to back) available? What would you suggest that I try?

Have you tried the Chicco KeyFit? You can leave the handle up...and that'll give you a bit more room. Maybe one of the Combi seats---but some of them have tricky installs. Their handles MUST be up in the car.

Safety 1st, Eddie Bauer, Cosco, Evenflo, Britax and Peg Perego all say the handle has to be down while you are driving.

Have you checked the manual to see if you can install the seat in the center of the back seat? I'm not familar with your backseat, so I don't know exactly what you're dealing with.

Susan
