Default Looking for a RF carseat for the middle rear seat in my 08 A4

I have a brand new 2008 A4. I recently went to a certified police installer to put my Graco (SafeSeat I believe) and they said that they couldn't do it because it would require pushing the front seats too far forward which was unsafe for the passengers up front, due to proximity to the airbag.

This is largely I believe because the shell of the SafeSeat is very long and pushes up against the backs of the front seats.

Does anyone know of another product that would not have this problem but be just as safe? How about the SnugRide from Graco? Or the Britax Companion?

I don't want to put it on the side as it is now for much longer, I just don't feel like it's as safe.

You can leave the handle up on the Graco SafeSeat, so that should free up a bit of space.

I haven't been in a a4, so I don't know the space you are working in. Have you tried installing it yourself? You'll need to use the seatbelt, not LATCH. I don't believe that Audi allows the use of center LATCH.

After installing, take a pic and post it. It helps me to see what is going on and if there is truely a problem.

Susan

You need at least 10" of room between you and the dashboard to be in "safe proximity"--airbags have come a long way in 10 years)

ITA with Susan--Try a center install, handle in either the A, C or D position (not in B), then post pics.
