An at-a-glance update on key bills pending before the Kentucky General Assembly: State Budget The executive branch budget bill, House Bill 406, cleared the House Wednesday. Senate leaders hope to write their own version of the $19 billion budget bill by the end of this week. After that, a conference committee made up of members from both chambers will attempt to work out their differences by April 1. Approving a two-year spending plan for the state is the only constitutionally-mandated task
