Default All Fischer Price Recalls - thru Dec. 2007

FISHER-PRICE 800-233-4004

Model(s): Safe Embrace, Model 79700
Production Dates: May 19, 1997 - March 29, 1998
Defect: The harness adjuster, used to tighten and lock the harness belts around a child, can malfunction if a spring breaks or dislocates from the correct position. When the harness adjuster fails, it would not properly lock the shoulder belts in place. If this occurs, the child may not be adequately protected in a crash.
Corrective Action: Fisher-Price will provide owners with a revised restraint adjuster and installation instructions.
NOTE: Customers can receive the free restraint adjuster by contacting Fisher-Price at 1-800-233-4004.
NHTSA No.: 98C019000 (PREVIOUS RECALL NUMBER 98E-019)

Model(s): 9173
Production Dates: September 1 - October 31, 1994
Noncompliance: The seats have an incorrectly positioned label warning that any car seat used in the rear-facing position should not be installed in an automotive seat on which an air bag can deploy. This does not comply with requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 213, "Child Restraint Systems."
Corrective Action: Fisher-Price will send owners a new label with instructions to correctly place the label on the child safety seat.
NHTSA No.: 94C035000 (PREVIOUS RECALL NUMBER 94E-035)

Model(s): Deluxe (bolster) Model 9104
Production Dates: June 15 - September 4, 1992
Defect: The red button on the buckle of the child safety seat can dislodge from the casing causing one of the appendages attached to the button to be on the outside of its protective casing. In this condition, the consumer may find it difficult to achieve a securely locked position.
Corrective Action: Fisher-Price will provide either a replacement child safety seat or a refund of the cost of the seat. The consumers will also have the option of receiving a new buckle assembly when they become available.
NHTSA No.: 92C021000 (PREVIOUS RECALL NUMBER 92E-021)

Model(s): 9101
Production Dates: February 8, 1991 - January 24, 1992
Defect: The shoulder belts on car seats using a particular design of connector bar can come free of the connector bar after extended use.
Corrective Action: Fisher-Price is providing a plastic cover that fits over the opening on the connector bar that will prevent the shoulder belts from coming free of the connector bar.
NHTSA No.: 92C019000 (PREVIOUS RECALL NUMBER 92E-019)

Model(s): 9100 and 9101
Production Dates: May 1987 - January 1989
Defect: The middle plastic laminate inside the buckle of the car seat shield can break, which can make it difficult to latch the shield to the tongue.
Corrective Action: Fisher-Price will send owners a new shield and installation instructions.
NHTSA No.: 92C018000 (PREVIOUS RECALL NUMBER 92E-018)

Model(s): 9149
Production Dates: January 1 - February 27, 1991
Defect: The breast shield could separate from the tongue of the restraint assembly in crash conditions because of a faulty buckle frame. This dose not meet with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 213, "Child Restraint Systems."
Corrective Action: Fisher-Price will replace the breast shield assemblies.
NHTSA No.: 91C019000 (PREVIOUS RECALL NUMBER 91E-019)

Model(s): 9100 and 9101
Production Dates: September 1, 1985 - April 30, 1987
Defect: The button on the shield strap can become loose and removed by a child presenting a choking hazard if the child places the button in their mouth.
Corrective Action: Fisher-Price will send a replacement button and installation instructions to owners.
NHTSA No.: 90C038000 (PREVIOUS RECALL NUMBER 90E-038)

Model(s): 9100 and 9101
Production Dates: May 1, 1987 - October 31, 1989
Defect: The plastic pin inside the buckle shield can break after force is applied in repeated use.
Corrective Action: Fisher-Price is providing owners with installation instructions and a new shield.
NHTSA No.: 90C037000 (PREVIOUS RECALL NUMBER 90E-037)

Model(s): 9100
Production Dates: April - August 1985
Defect: The seat metal laminate shield, located inside the shield buckle, can break after repeated use.
Corrective Action: Fisher-Price is providing owners with installation instructions and a new shield.
NHTSA No.: 90C036000 (PREVIOUS RECALL NUMBER 90E-036)

Model(s): 9100 and 9101
Production Dates: April 1985 - June 1989
Defect: The metallic label glued to the breast shield of the seat can become loose over time presenting a choking hazard to the seat occupant if the child removes the label and places in their mouth.
Corrective Action: Fisher-Price is requesting owners to inspect the shield periodically, and if the label is loose, peel it off and discard it.
NHTSA No.: 90C028000 (PREVIOUS RECALL NUMBER 90E-028)

Model(s): 9101
Production Dates: February - March 1990
Noncompliance: The retractor assembly has a "tongue" used to engage the breast shield of the child restraint. A stamping die used on this tongue could cause the part to fail and completely separate in a crash. This does not meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 213, "Child Restraint Systems."
Corrective Action: Fisher-Price is providing owners with installation instructions and a replacement retractor assembly.
NHTSA No.: 90C008000 (PREVIOUS RECALL NUMBER 90E-008)
