Default SafeGuard Go or Radian 65?

I had posted earlier about moving my (just turned) 2 year old from his Roundabout to a harnessed toddler seat/booster. He's 38", 32#, so he's about to hit the height limit on the Roundabout.

I like the Radian 65 and Safeguard Go. The install video on the "Go" made me wonder how sturdy it is? The soft-back doesn't seem like much support, but I'm used to a sturdy Britax. (decided against the Regent b/c size, twin sister is still in her Roundabout right next to him)

Also, how do these 2 compare to less expensive seats like the Evenflo Chase or Graco Platinum Cargo?

Thanks!

The Radian would be the safest seat more long-term because it has the high weight limit + higher top harness slots, but it can be difficult to install correctly: what is the vehicle year/make/model Would your next carseat be installed in the center or outboard?

The Safeguard Go meets the same safety standards as every other carseat & the higher harness weight limit (compared to the Chase or CarGo) is more ideal. However the Go is more suited to travel purposes because once the harness is outgrown it becomes merely a backless booster. Since we do not yet have side impact crash test requirements in the U.S. I don't know how the Go might perform in such real life crashes. I do know that highback boosters are about 70% safer in side impact crashes even without deep head wings, but more dedicated boosters (such as the Britax Monarch, Compass B510, Graco Airbooster, Recaro Vivo, etc.) that do have deep head wings filled with energy absorbing EPS/EPP foam offer even more protection.

Harnesses are safest in side impacts, though & it stands to reason that one with a sturdier back would probably be safer than one without, but we don't have comprehensive enough comparative data to know exactly how much safer

Have you considered the Cosco Apex? So long as the vehicle offers head support at least up to eye level (as the child grows) then this would be a good choice It has the same limits as the Go, but with a firm back + some head wings (it's also lightweight enough for travel)

We have a Lexus GX470 (middle sized SUV). 2003. He would be installed outboard b/c of twin sis back there with him in her roundabout. Would the Radian be hard to install in a Lexus?

I hadn't seen the Apex, but will check it out too. We do have adjustable head rests.

Thanks so much!

We don't have too many Lexus' around here so I haven't had the pleasure of checking them out inside Is that like the Honda CRV? If so, I don't foresee any major problems, but it's always wise to have a CPST check your install: ask to see their SafeKids certification card Also -- if your vehicle has rear side curtain airbags I'd feel fine with the Safeguard Go

We are thinking of installing the Safeguard car seat (not the "Go" model) in our 2004 MDX, which does not have side curtain airbags. Would the same comment re rear side curtain airbags apply to the Safeguard car seat?
What about the Radian 80 and no rear side curtain airbags? Also, I do have the option of installing either one of these in an Infinity M35 that does have rear curtain air bags, but in the Infinity I would need to remove one or
both of the seats often whereas in the Acura they would be more permanent.
Am I correct in thinking that the Safeguard car seat would be much easier
to take out and reinstall than the Radian 80? I have read that the Radian 80
can be tricky to install. I was leaning toward the Radian 80 in the MDX, but maybe the Safeguard car seat in the Infinity would be a better choice?
